The girls’ hockey team made it to the play-off stages of their under-13 competition, which took place yesterday. The teamĀ faced both Cavan Royal and Dundalk Grammar. The match with Cavan saw end-to-end play, with plenty of scoring chances for both teams but no goal going in. Dundalk proved too strong for us, netting four goals with none in response from us. Another good win by the girls today, defeating Wilson’s Hospital 6-1 away from home. Two goals each from Julia and Poppy, one from Constance and a stunner from Ella who again was the dominant player on the pitch. Both the girls’ and the mixed team have been in action recently. On Tuesday, 11th February the girls — playing in the snow in Navan! — defeated a much improved Mercy Convent team 1-0, with Aude scoring the only goal of the match. The girls are currently top of the Meath League, but they have two crucial matches still to play.
