Last week Abby captained the girls to another good win (5-0) at home against an inexperienced side from Loreto Convent Balbriggan. Isabelle on the left-wing scored a wonderful hat-trick, and goals were also scored by Maribel and Alejandra. The girls have now won six matches and drawn two in the 2013-2014 season. They have three further Meath League matches this term.

The First XI (mixed)  hockey team started their season with an exhilarating draw against Drogheda Grammar’s under-13 boys yesterday. The team played at home, and the recent wet conditions together with a downpour just as the match started meant that the players had quite a mud-bath -but both teams seemed to enjoy it, and the match was played in good spirit. Drogheda went 2-0 up in the first half, whereupon three of our more experienced girls (Abby, Sophia and Hannah A) came on to strengthen the Headfort team. Headfort turned the tide with two goals (by Sophia and Henry) inside a minute, but despite good pressure and some fine shots on goal by Philip in the second half, the team had to settle for a draw.
