Headfort School Update

By June 11, 2018 News

Dear Friends of Headfort,

We are writing to inform you that after 15 years as Headmaster, Dermot Dix will be leaving Headfort at the end of the current academic year to take up a new position as Junior School Principal at Rathdown School in Dublin.

During his tenure with Headfort he has contributed significantly to our wonderful ethos and has had an immeasurable impact on the education, values and social conscience of hundreds of young people who have enjoyed the unique experience that Headfort has to offer.

While this is a significant change for our school community, we would like to wish Dermot well in his future endeavours. Over the last year the Board, management team and Mr. Dix have worked tirelessly together to develop necessary governance and long term strategies that will ensure a seamless transition.

Headfort has changed and evolved over the past seven decades, responding and adapting to the needs of pupils who graduate into an ever changing world. The Board views Dermot’s departure as an opportunity to again evolve our proposition, ensuring that we continue to develop and improve upon the educational excellence, creative environment, sport and independent thinking that our children need for happy and successful lives.

The Board plans to commence a thorough recruitment process to identify the best individual to bring Headfort School forward for the future. In the interim, the school will be managed by the Headfort Management Team and directed by the School Board both of which are committed to implementing the changes introduced this academic year which we believe build a strong foundation for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Alan Morrissey (Chairman, Headfort Board)

Dermot Dix (Headmaster)
