Atalanta Pollock Art Exhibition ‘Headfort Views’

By May 28, 2013 Events

Artist Atalanta Pollock (mother of Johnny in our Lower v) is set to unveil her latest collection of paintings which is themed  “HEADFORT  VIEWS” on June 7th 2013, here at Headfort School.

The two week show, which will be on view until the 21st June, features many of the spectacular trees and shrubs on the estate and golf course that were planted by generations of the Headfort family since the 18th century.

The 30 paintings will be exhibited in the sumptuous Robert Adam Ballroom of Headfort House. The recently restored room hosts many lavish events as well as being used by the pupils of Headfort School as an assembly room and concert hall.

Atalanta comes from a creative family, being a grand-daughter of the late poet Sheila Wingfield and daughter of the botanical artist Grania Langrishe, for whom both Powerscourt was home.

Atalanta paints the natural world around her with an acutely observant eye that seems to capture the energy and character of her subjects, whether it is trees, people or horses.

Her work is full of saturated colour, strong drawing and a lively dancing play of light and shade.

There is a private viewing for parents and friends on Friday, 7th June and the  exhibition will be on view at Headfort School from 8th June and will continue until the 21st June 2013 and is by appointment. Please contact Atalanta or Headfort School
