Note from the Headmistress 27th September 2019 This morning, I had the pleasure of announcing our Prefects for this term. “Prefect” is a term used to describe ‘an older student with some authority over younger students and some other responsibilities and advantages’. While this may be the dictionary definition, what we want to see in our prefects are qualities such as leadership, willingness to help others, high integrity and be capable of communicating honestly and effectively. The first term in Headfort Montessori is now in full swing. The children took full advantage of our beautiful weather last week and worked collaboratively to make an obstacle course! We were delighted to host our parents evening on Thursday 19th of September, where we invited parents to work in partnership with the team in the coming year. Note from the Headmistress 13th September 2019 New beginnings At our staff meeting at the start of term, I talked about change. It is natural to fear change and this is something that Lingard Goulding (Headmaster from 1977 to 2001) mentioned in his book when he handed over to Dermot Dix (Headmaster until 2018). Lingard stated that Dermot was worried that introducing change ‘might imply criticism of the previous era.
