Headfort Claim The Raftery Trophy

On Wednesday, 1st June Headfort defeated St Columba’s College by 9 wickets at Railway Union Cricket Ground in Sandymount to win the Raftery Trophy. A glorious, sunny day greeted the cricketers and the large gathering of supporting parents from both schools. Winning the toss, St Columba’s ex-Headfort captain, Oliver T, elected to bat first on the artificial wicket. Taking the new ball, Hugh L gave his school the best possible start: bowling into a stiff breeze, he shattered the stumps of St Columba’s opening batsman with his third ball.
