Children remain at Headfort until they are either twelve or thirteen, depending on which secondary school they are bound for. The Headmaster is happy to advise parents on suitable secondary schools.

Headfort children tend to move on to a wide variety of schools in Ireland; examples include Belvedere College, Campbell College, Clongowes Wood, Glenstal Abbey, King’s Hospital, Newtown and St. Columba’s College, among many others.

In the U.K. we have an enviable record of Common Entrance successes. Children have recently gone on to Wellington (including a recent scholar), Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Eton, Glenalmond, Gordonstoun, Harrow, Marlborough, Shrewsbury, St. Mary’s Calne (scholar) and Wycombe Abbey.

Moving on to third-level education, recent Headfort old boys and old girls have studied at all of the following universities (and others): Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, NUI – Maynooth, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Oxford, St. Andrew’s, Durham, Imperial College London, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), and the Oxford School of Drama.
