Headfort V Sandford Park

By | Sport | No Comments

Headfort 12 – Sandford Park 7 An entertaining and hotly contested match which saw some fine passages of play. We kept the ball alive well in the back line, stringing together some wonderful moves. The pack counter-rucked well, winning plenty of ball for us to use. A great performance with which to end the Autumn Term off with. Well done, lads! MB

Boys’ Hockey Final Report

By | Sport | No Comments

The boys reached another under 13 hockey final this past Wednesday, playing the Dalkey School Project at St Columba’s College. Dalkey were a very strong side indeed, and our boys did extremely well to keep the match scoreless until halftime. In the second half the continued pressure and possession on the part of Dalkey paid off in the form of three goals (the last one controversial!). We had had a few chances – two decent ones – but there is no denying that Dalkey were worthy winners. Still, I was proud of the Headfort boys: they gave it their all,…

Girls’ Hockey Finals v Cavan Royal & Dundalk Grammar

By | Sport | No Comments

The girls’ hockey team made it to the play-off stages of their under-13 competition, which took place yesterday. The team faced both Cavan Royal and Dundalk Grammar. The match with Cavan saw end-to-end play, with plenty of scoring chances for both teams but no goal going in. Dundalk proved too strong for us, netting four goals with none in response from us. Hence, the team had to settle for third place – yet the girls can be proud of a fine season in which they scored more goals than they conceded and won more games than they lost. Ella captained the…

Hockey News

The boys’ and girls’ teams were both in action last week. The boys travelled to Drogheda Grammar for a league match on Tues 14th. They met good opposition, and had to fight back to draw 1-1 with a goal by Juan in the second half. The team was not playing at its best, so in the circumstances we were pleased to split the points, leaving us with two wins and one draw in the league, with two or three matches still to play. The next day the girls travelled to St Columba’s College for a friendly against a team of 1st and 2nd years. The…
